Process to Apply for Financial Aid

Certificate Program

PTS currently does not offer Federal Student Loans for the PTS Certificate Program, however, students may be eligible for private loans. Please see the following steps:

1. Apply for U.S. Department of Education FSA ID at This ID serves as the identifier allowing you access to your personal information in various U.S. Department of Education systems. Be sure to retain your FSA ID for future reference, corrections, etc. (If you already have a FSA ID, proceed directly to ‘STEP 2’).

2. Complete the free electronic (current year) FAFSA at applying for outside private loans).

Students who do not have U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status do not have to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

3. If you wish to apply for a Non-Federal loan, you can request a private (credit based) loan through any lender of your choice. Please send any private loan information via email to or fax to 423-478-7712 for loan processing. (A FAFSA is required for private loan processing)
