Celebrating the Life of Dr. Douglas W. Slocumb

On Thursday, a moment was spent by faculty and staff celebrating the life and ministry of Dr. Douglas Slocumb.  A tree has been planted in his honor outside the building where he had his office.  He served as Director of Counseling and Assessment at PTS and served at the Seminary since 1988.

He was Associate Professor of Marriage and Family Ministries.

Dr. Oliver McMahan lead this time of celebration prior to the unveiling of the plaque honoring Dr. Slocumb.  After Dr. McMahan's comments, faculty and staff shared memories of his impact upon them and their families.  His wife Joyce and his two sons shared a few words as they were visibly touched by this special moment  He touched countless lives in his ministerial roles throughout his life, and he is dearly missed.  Dr. Slocumb transitioned to heaven in July of 2016, and today would have been his 75th birthday.

Dr. Slocumb is a honoree in the PTS Hall of Prophets.  The scholarship endowment in his name provides scholarships annually to students at PTS.
